Basic Movement Boutique
Constantly changing, constantly moving.
Movement is the only constant thing in life, in fashion and in retail. Basic Movement believes in products and clothing that aims to elevate your everyday; for work, for fun, for leisure. In the age of conscious production and consumption, we aim to showcase products that uphold great design and responsible practices. Basic Movement believes that ingenuity comes from people coming together to foster a creative environment.
Past Basic Movement intiatives which involved our fashion communities are: Basic Movement Club; a series of public selling showrooms which features designers such as Vina Romero, Ken Samudio, Bagasao, Eliz Marcelo, Randolf Clothing, MAFK, Transit Store, Purveyr, Tropik Beatnik, Sandy Cheeks, Sunday Paper and others. Special Collaboration collections with Tina Ong of Religion Black and designer Raxenne Maniquiz were also produced under the Basic Movement Collections. Conversations A Fashion Talk and Workshop Series with projects such as a Panel Discussion on Filipino Fashion which featured Amina Aranaz-Alunan of Aranaz, Carl Jan Cruz, Rik Rasos of ProudRace, Kim Jones and Ken Samudio; and an Indigo Dye Workshop headed by Luis Agaid Jr. from the Namarabar Dye Community in Abra, Philippines.
Founded in 2014, right out of a graduation showcase as a part of a designer incubation space – Esme Palaganas started the business as a RTW brand which overtime evolved into something more. Passionate and in awe of the talents in the community she’s part of, she started Basic Movement Club which resulted from inviting fellow designers to be part of a selling event in her studio — and later on, private dinner collaborations, talks and workshops. Basic Movement is a manifestation of her love for great design and creative minds.
Esme’s fascination with fashion and design grew as a PR intern for Philippine Fashion Week at age 15 until she graduated with honors from the Fashion Design and Merchandising Course at De La Salle – College of St. Benilde — with an associate designer job with a manufacturing company in between. She is currently taking her Masters at De La Salle University – Manila at the College of Business. She continues her design work for custom clients and for Basic Movement. Basic Movement collections have been featured in fashion shows and presentations in Manila and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Collections are sold in select boutique stores in the Philippines.
